We received a new inquiry from a rubber product manufacturer who adopted our equipment a long time ago. In the previous project, they used the Brodie Disk Mini to prevent fine powder bridging, and it was well received. Although quite some time has passed since then, it seems they have been using the elastic disks (silicone disks) stably without any degradation or damage. This time, they consulted us because the material tends to stick to the inner surface of the hopper, and they wanted to find a solution. The effectiveness of our equipment depends on the degree of sticking (adhesion), so we first installed one Brodie Disk (standard type) on just one surface, which yielded very good results. We installed four blow disks (standard type BD-15) at the same height on the upper half of the conical section, which resolved the rat hole-shaped residue that was occurring from the conical section to the cylindrical section. We installed a Brody Disk Mini in the upper hopper of the twin-screw feeder because the powdered mixing materials occasionally formed bridges. This prevented the occurrence of bridges and blockages, allowing for a smooth flow of powdered materials and stable continuous extrusion molding. Methods to prevent rat holes and arching phenomena in bulk materials include air aeration using air nozzles and impact methods using air knockers or electromagnetic knockers.
